Today is International Women’s Day. In November 1962 Lucille Ball broke the glass ceiling by becoming the first woman to head a Hollywood studio. Under her leadership, Desilu developed such iconic TV shows as “Star Trek,” “Mission: Impossible” and “Mannix.”

RIP Mike Connors. Desilu produced “Mannix” from 1967 to 1968, although the show ran until 1974, making Connors a household name. In return, he appeared as Mannix on a 1971 episode of “Here’s Lucy.”
